We all know that alcohol has some health benefits, right?

How about cocktails?  What about mixed drinks that include healing herbs and spices?

Our friends at “Quintessence” wrote this lovely blog post that features Wedding Cocktail Design creator and founder Jonathan Pogash.  Learn about Molecular Mixology, and which ingredients are the best to put into your sacred temple:

What can I say, other than New England Brides Rock!

Thank you to those who visited our table at this year’s Southern New England Bridal Expo on Sunday, January 9th.  We enjoyed mixing up some of our signature drinks for you to taste.  We were in good company, sharing the “Spirits & Wine Pavillion” with wine-makers from the area.  I’ve always been enamored of Sakonnet Vineyards and Westport Rivers Winery – if you haven’t tried their stuff, please do yourselves a favor and grab some.

The Providence Convention Center was a great venue to showcase the vendors that made up the bridal expo.  Everyone from dress-makers to caterers to invitation-designers strutted their stuff to the nearly 1500 brides, bridesmaids, mothers of the brides, etc. who showed up.

We’ve included some photos from the weekend, as well as the signature drinks we mixed up.

Enjoy!

There’s our table…all nicely set up and ready for the rush.

What a well attended expo!

Holiday-Inspired Artisanal Cocktails…Artisanal?

November 22, 2010 / Jpogash / Cocktails, Food, Fun, News / No Comments

Well, it’s official, for better or for worse, the Holiday Season is upon us. I heard my first Christmas tune in a department store this weekend, and saw my first Christmas lights of the season down the street from my parents house in New Jersey. I’m getting that warm, fuzzy feeling in my stomach, and to tell you the truth, I’m lovin’ it!

What’s especially exciting this time of the year is the myriad possibilities when it comes to ingredients in food and drink.

This year at Thanksgiving I’ll be cooking (yes, I cook, too) two recipes that I found in the NY Times: A butternut squash, pecans, and currants side dish, as well as stewed chestnuts in ricotta cheese. Both sounded exceptionally good, and I’m very much looking forward to trying them out.

We’ve heard the term “Artisanal” used quite often when referring to culinary trends.  The word simply means any product made with your hands.  When it comes to cocktails, we’ve noticed a huge upswing in ingredients that have more care and thought put into them – whether they are homemade syrups, creative garnishes, and the like.  These drinks use, of course, seasonal and fresh ingredients, and are considered the best quality you can get.

You can check out this feature from Family Circle Magazine about Artisanal Holiday Cocktails.

So try them out, and if you do, please let me know how they turned out:
